CTO Forum

About the NREN CTO Forum

The Nordic NREN CTO Forum is a a forum for exchange experience and best practices at the strategic level, for sharing information about key challenges and initiatives, and to coordinate and align strategic efforts across the Nordic countries.  The forum is open to lead technical leadership at the Nordic NRENs and NORDUnet.

CTO Forum charter

  1. Exchanging information on key challenges and initiatives

  2. Comparing service portfolios & identifying and proposing possible for shared services

  3. To form consensus on strategic efforts across the Nordic countries and to coordinate where applicable. 

  4. Sharing information about Nordic engagement & representation in European and global Networking, Governance, and Standards bodies, such as GÉANT, RIPE NCC, IETF, etc
  5. To Forming consensus on possible joint Nordic positions for European and global engagement, where this adds value
  6. Providing updates and analysis for NORDUnet and Nordic NREN management and the NORDUnet board on key issues and issues of joint representation.
  7. Contributing to TERENA, GÉANT, and other international workgroups
  8. Sharing knowledge about legal and contractual issues

Logistics

  • Membership of the CTO-Forum is decided by the NREN management; each Nordic NREN will nominate their members.
  • Lars Fischer, NORDUnet, chairs the CTO-Forum
  • Jorgen Qvist, NORDUnet, is secretary of the CTO-Forum and responsible for practical meeting arrangements.
  • The CTO-Forum will have regular face2face meetings four times a year, approximately one month ahead of NORDUnet board meeting.
    • Meetings will be face-to-face with a VC option.
    • Meeting agenda must to be available two weeks in advance.
  • Additional monthly meetings will be held by VC
  • Communication and invitations will take place on the CTO Forum mailing list, managed by NORDUnet.
  • Meeting minutes and other CTO-Forum documents are publicly available
