- GÉANT network
- GÉANT has decided to go for Network Plan A - largest possible GÉANT footprint. This is a GÉANT Board decision. NDN should now pursue a "what's in it for me" strategy.
- NDN is participating in the GN4 Baltic Region study and the Core Network (aka Central Region) study. Qvist leads the effort here. We are looking for sharable fibre routes and open line systems.
- WPs
- NRENs are reading WPs. It was decided that Each NREN will score WPs and share scoring sheets on CTO list.
- In Network WP we will focus on proposals that a promising and activities we would like to join.
- Software WP is troublesome and should be read carefully
- T&I WP is sound, Security WP is mostly OK
- Cloud WP is focused on procurement and brokering. We should read while keeping in mind other activities, such as "data management". Most researchers, including smaller groups, are under pressure to do good data management. NRENs may want to offer such services, combined with "Data Analytics as a service"
- Ideas
- LF has distributed "Action Template" for new ideas
- LF has distributed list of possible ideas, from NDN brainstorm
- NDN to complete templates for
- eNREN program
- Open Source deepfield replacement
- OpenNSA support
- DTN initiative
- SUNET, UNINETT to do template for Campus Network Management
- Vidar to organize meeting
- Ideas is to build on current NaaS initiative and get funding for extensions for NAV
- UNINETT (Olav) to draft template for
- Data Analytics as a Service
- Applying machine learning to Network measurement data, possibly based on DaaS
- LF to help find support from other NRENs
- AOB:
- EISCAT is pursuing lower-cost networking options, including possible 10G initially. We must complete a cost estimate for possible solutions. LF to doodle for NREN-only VC.
