NORDUnet Video Conference Service
Background and rationale:
To maximize the usage of NORDUnet resources and minimize the cost of travel and the inherent pressure on our environment associated with airline travel NORDUnet has established a number of Video and Audio Conferencing capabilities that is highly utilized in day to day operation but which is also available for Conferences an Meetings within the global NREN Community.
NORDUnet offers a centralized Video Conferencing Service that supports multiple access capabilities:
- Terminal access through stand alone Video Conferencing Terminals.
- WEB based access providing interactive Video/ Audio Conferencing capabilities from any Windows or Mac OS-X computer.
- Accessing a Video Conference from a Mobile or Fixed Line phone (AUDIO ONLY)
- Conference Streaming for watching on going conferences.
- Conference Recording for time shifted watching of previous held meetings and conferences.
- NORDUnet Direct Video Conferencing for accessing specific meeting rooms.
Requesting a meeting / Conference utilizing the NORDUnet Video Conferencing Service.
- You can contact the NORDUnet Video Conferencing Support here and request a meeting / assistance.
- You can create an ad hoc meeting yourself by dialing gatekeeper.nordu.net
- Press 0
- Enter your desired meeting ID followed by #
- Enter pin code if you want pin code protection followed by # - OR just # to skip pin protection.
- You meeting is being created with you chosen Meeting_ID
- Communicated the Meeting_ID (And pin if you entered a pin code in step 3) to the other participants that can then join by using Teminal Access or WEB Based Access.
- NOTE: AD HOC Meetings has a limit of 4 participants and has lower priority to resources than meetings requested through NORDUnet Video Conferencing Support.
- NOTE: In case of congestion or misuse AD HOC meetings might be terminated by the Administrator.
