1. Welcome

The meeting started at 10:07 a.m. CET.

1.1 Agenda bashing

2.2 TODO-list

  • eCampus review was postponed to be due January 2011
  • federated services: FSKNet has updated the list; CSC/Funet is missing the information but working on it; Uninett and RHNet information is missing as well, new due time January 2011
  • IPTV activation: relevant people have been found and the workshop programme has been planned. A video conference is planned before Christmas. Due to April 2011.
  • work area: the area is made, but it is inaccessible
  • security auditing: the idea was discussed in the Nordic CERT forum. Ticket closed.
  • scanning report: The details are discussed in the Nordic CERT forum from now on. Ticket closed.
  • TNC presentation: (see section 7.1)

2.3 New work area in the Wiki

3. Short update for the last 3 months (approximately 3 main issues)

3.1 Funet

  • CSC is building a new machine room in Kajaani in an old paper mill: http://www.csc.fi/csc/julkaisut/esitteet/datacenter
  • 10G DWDM fiber network is now fully completed. The light path service has been very popular
  • DNSSEC preparations going on with user activation
  • Services area
    • piloting HD MCU service
    • eduroam Windows Vista&7 installer and a marketing video have been made

3.2 Sunet

  • Mail filter service launched in October 2010 (E-postfilter). Currently five initial universities are active. The service has a federated access for administration.
  • A bit torrent service is in late development phases - "Lobber" (launch December 2010). The service enables users e.g. to share large data sets among the people in the community.
  • The new Sunet web site has been launched with new service descriptions (www.sunet.se).
  • collaboration tools and streaming service alternatives are being evaluated

3.3 FSKNet/UNI-C

  • FSKnet had just their annual conference
  • The FSKnet network upgrade is considered to be completed
  • FSKnet is discontinuing four services. The decision is based on the new strategy to focus on research infrastructure. The relocation and continuance of these services is being worked on together with their users.

3.4 RHNET

  • there was noone present

3.5 UNINETT

  • there was noone present

3.6 NORDUnet

  • Adobe Connect Pro: have launched a pilot ACP service for Uninett. The server base is upgraded to respond the increased need. The service is harnessing the Kalmar Union.
  • Support for federated login: a support is being built for the NORDUnet community services. The first service to be kalmarized is the NORDUnet wiki.
  • Uni-C will start to use the NORDUnet MCU service. A possibility for the federated login is being investigated.
4. Service Matrix

4.1 Status for the Service Matrix

  • suggestion from the list: freely available services e.g. Uninett Foodle should be noted better
    • Foodle requires NREN identity federation, i.e. advanced NREN service
    • decision yellow smiley is a new symbol for federated free service in the map
    • globally federated services (like eduroam) should be marked with the smiley as well
  • some refinements to the matrix syntax were made on the spot:
    • fixed the "not applicable" to "not applicable/not end user service"
    • introduced the smiley
  • TODO: request NRENs to update the matrix (JM)

The next meeting will be in Trondheim (Norway), on March 1st 2011 (under consideration)

  • next meeting topics: cloud services - SAAS/PAAS/IAAS
  • decision: ask Uninett about the possibilities to have the meeting (JM)

NORDUnet conference 7.-9. June 2011

  • decision: WG will arrange an open meeting after Martin's possible presentation of the group
7. AOB

7.1. Co-operation and outreach

  • news from the TF-MSP
    • Martin showed his presentation from the Madrid meeting
    • new topics for next meetings were discovered:
      • service language change-over enabling (language neutrality)
      • IPR clearing
  • TNC2011 and NORDUnet 2011
    • TNC call for papers is open. Deadline for abstracts is the end of December
    • decision: MB will submit an abstract
    • MB will ask a presentation in NORDUnet 2011 conference
  • NORDUnet has written a draft for IPR policy (notice)
  • nic.funet.fi Open Access policy has been made. It is coming out soon. (notice)

7.2 Leadership of the Forum

  • decision: JM will continue

7.3 CBF between University of Copenhagen and Lund

  • the physical setup and the division of the cost was discussed
  • Forskningsnett and Sunet will continue the negotiations
