- Compose a shared service template: Tiina gave a presentation. The SUNET ACP service was discussed.

- Filesender service: LJ gave a short update. Three options have been investigated. Rescheduled to September 2011.
- Cloud update on Uninett plans: a slide set was received. Rescheduled to November 2011.
- Shared services table: has been updated partially. Will be updated again after this meeting. Rescheduled to October 2011.
- HA Workshop: will be arranged in Trondheim. Rescheduled to November 2011.
2.3 New work area in the Wiki

3. Short update for the last 3 months (approximately 3 main issues)
3.1 Funet
- Cross-border activity is spreading out. CSC has submitted a proposal to EU together with the EENet and Sigmanet for cross-border connectivity. The SWE-FIN connectivity is planned to be operational next summer (2012). NOR-FIN connectivity is planned to be deployed later 2012. There's some uncertainties in the plans.
- Virtual router service has been investigated. The virtual routers would be used as an Funet access router in the customer (university) network.
- NORDUnet MCU service has been investigated. The results have been good. Production service is planned.
- NORDUnet ACP survey is ongoing among Funet customers. The results will be available pretty soon.
- cloud services are in a planning phase
- the Kajaani data center is estimated to be up and operational 1H/2012
3.2 Sunet
- data syncronization for mobile devices procurement is going on
- done major updates to the ACPs. Sunet service is peeking at 600 concurrent users.
- UNINETT is doing procurement for an e-meeting solution
- SUNET media distribution service. A CDN and transcoding service is being investigated. The system was test used in the NORDUnet2011 conference. Universities may have local customizations e.g. skins or their own CDN domain names (media channels)
- E-mail (spam) filter setup. SUNET has a large license, which they are providing to their customers. The service is in a testing phase. The free trial period for universities and NRENs lasts until October 2012 (i.e. a year of free testing). The user administration is connected to the Kalmar union.
3.3 FSKNet
- the director for Uni-C has resigned
- currently it seems that the research networking will continue in the Uni-C and it won't be relocated in some other governmental body or organization
- there will some administrative rearrangements in the research funding administration in Denmark
- a call for tender for fibers and networking capacity is going on
- the optical services have been a huge success in FSKNet. There's even backlog in the installation.
- the MCU service from NORDUnet has had some performance problem in the videoconferencing quality. It seems that the endpoints do not negotiate the connections to the MCU properly.
- FSKNET is investigating systems, which could relay administrative and operative notifications to different feed formats (e-mail, RSS, ...)
- a surveillance and monitoring system for measuring end-to-end performance of a pure optical link is being sought
- MB is participating discussions with Dante about the cost of the CBFs and light paths

3.6 NORDUnet

4. Service Matrix
4.1 Status for the Service Matrix
- there is need for content updates (SUNET, NORDUnet, FSKnet and UNINETT)
- decision: the "red cross symbol" to be changed to "blue dot symbol" (JM)
- new AP: notify the NRENs about the need for content update (JM)
4.2. Cloud services
Discussion from the meeting, round table:
- JM gave a short introduction to the preliminary cloud material and noted about the coming TF-MSP meeting
- novel high availability solutions from Uninett are a good aspect to provide services, which takes advantage of the NRENs networks
- the Finnish polytechnics have expressed their interest in storage, desktop, virtual router and PAAS from the cloud
- the Swedish universities have requested IAAS. The solutions are being planned.
- there seems to be a lot of experimentation going on with the commodity cloud services
- the NORDUnet community has a lot of possibilities for direct peering with cloud providers
- the Nordic co-operation in purchasing clouds services together might be a good idea
- NORDUnet inter-NREN forum seems to follow the CIRENSE ideas and suggestions
- there is limited amount of personnel specialised in legal issues
- JISC Legal has published a "toolkit" on legal issues
- decision: inter-NREN participants try to urge Terena to identify the target groups and topics for a special meeting on legal issues in the next TF-MSP meeting
- there was some discussion about the restrictions on the use of cloud services
- decision: inter-NREN WG needs administrative "touch and feel" of the cloud services
- new AP: write first version (max. one page) of the administrative framework for common Nordic cloud services (JQ)
- decision: inter-NREN WG will revisit the subject in the next meeting
4.3. Update of the shared services
- the shared services table was reviewed
- the necessary changes noted:
- network & connectivity services: Uninett-Funet CBF, Haparanda-Tornio CBF to planning phase
- Housing/storage: remove Edumedia
5. Next meeting
- possible candidate week 48 (28st of November to 4th of December). Wednesday 7th of December and Thursday 8th of December on the week 49 are a backup.
- the meeting site: Trondheim, Norway
- new AP: JM to negotiate with Uninett on the date and time
6. AOB
6.1. Co-operation and outreach
- MB and HK will attend the next TF-MSP
- there was discussion about expanding the inter-NREN member base
- decision: inter-NREN WG can and will ask guests to the meetings
6.2. Baltic Ring
- JM gave a short overview
6.3 ToR service
- LJ suggested that we should consider deploying ToR exit node to the NORDUnet network only
- other gateway services could also be provided centrally (e.g. 6to4, Google, Akamai, ...)
- decision: inter-NREN WG regards the ToR service as positive
- new AP: create a list of caching and gateway services in the NORDUnet (LJ, JQ)
