- GN4-3
- New network
- Procurement process for equipment starting up. Process will be similar to PRISM. Two lots: 1) open line system 2) transponders. Draft spec has been produced, sign-up for NRENs in process. NDN will ride on this tender.
- JQ to distribute new reference map
- Note that there's a number of incubator tasks.
- Applications
- NDN to submit aggregate submission of person resources
- LF to organize process, Thomas to submit. LF to announce process.
- Coordination to CTO list
- CSC task leader in clouds is in doubt. LF will coordinate with Andres, Per Öster, Vidar.
- OCRE
- Asia tender: tender is out. Asia end options Singapore, Hong Kong. EU end options London, Frankfurt. Deadline for pre-qualification bids is this coming monday
- UNINETT update
- New CEO, start this coming Monday, formal CEO from 1 October, will be at NDN2018
- New strategy in preparation
- Will reorg this fall
- New security initiative proposed, joint UNIT/UNINETT proposal, funding decision in October. Related to this, Arne Öslebö has taken the sub-task leader position for SOC in GN4-3.
- New uncompressed video project at NTU, inside Norway, also between Norway and Denmark. Require circuit connectivity, initially talking about Layer 2. Using specialised equipment from NTP.dk. UNINETT will investigate and look into how to this can be done on our networks. NTU people will be at NDN18. Possible workshop at NDN HQ after NDN18.
- WebRTC demo ready. Vidar will send info to list.
- UNINETT has done a geteduroam client for windows. Leif: situation in GÉANT is really sad.
- DeIC update
- Agreement signed with ESS DMC in Copenhagen. We can now move to next step for a inter-site setup.
- Possible progress on NBI LHC centre progress
- National funding process, tentative deision: NREN part will continue as-is for now, DeIC construct continues to end-2019 for now
- FUNET
- Janne Kanner has moved to lead data services
- Harri now leads FUNET services, services and network now in same unit
- FUNET 2020 deployment is proceeding with first Juniper upgrades. Some challenges with new Juniper platforms.
- SUNET
- Preparation for Campus Network management as a service ongoing. Tendering for data centre and wifi equipment. Hiring person to lead the effort.
- Working closely with UNINETT on CNMaaS; two-day working coming up
- Trying to influence GN4-3 effort in CNMaaS
- Meeting to prepare Trondheim - Vasa link next week.
- Looking for government funding for develop effort as part of SOC service(s)
- Project to support national digital examination in preparation
- Talking to GÉANT about a global discovery service, initially as part of GN4-3 T&I incubator. Expecting this to become a GÉANT service during GN4-3.
- NORDUnet
- Storage tender collapsed for process reasons beyond our control. Expecting official decision on Atea case, expected in September. We will then re-launch tender.
- Tender for IP equipment + support announced. Will get MX10003's for Oslo, Helsinki, Esbjerg, Ballerup, MX204 for international sites
- NDN NextGen pricing progressing, to be presented at 24 Sep BoD meeting. Project plan in preparation.
- Update US network, move to I2 network capacity, shut down Miami and Palo Alto pop, new Seattle pop, replace MX480's w/ MX204s
- Site move at Ballerup (all storage etc): Oct 13-14
- Migration from VMware to Acropolis during Q3-Q4, saving on VMware support cost.
- Next F2F: LF to doodle, weeks of 8 oct, 22 Oct, 29 Oct.
