Agenda and presentation

Main highlights

Pal's talk showed the main changes to enhance eduGAIN both. One of the main changes is about the governance with the introduction of a Steering Group (6 members plus the eduGAIN Service Owner), to. make the decision process more agile.

Other aspects that are being addressed in eduGAIN are about the possibility to filter out entities that for instance do not meet the baseline. This is obviously a sensitive topic that should be discussed at large. Pal noted that a WG about this may be created to make the discussion more inclusive.

Zacharias presented the work done in Sweden to use an external identity validation service to support stronger identity vetting, required by many eScience collaborations. The service in Sweden was very well received. Given the interest in such a service, GEANT is exploring an European procurement so that such a service would become available to all NRENs.
A discussion took place regarding the needs for such a service in other NRENs. CSC noted that the some universities in Finland have got a similar service in place, but it would be better to have a national service. Denmark noted that there is a demand in the country but maybe less strong as public organisations can use the national eIDs.

Sikt said that they are also interested into this, even if they have not yet received many requests.

We agreed to use the T&I strategy meeting to scope the requirements for an OIDC/OAuth session post NDN24.
