The Golden Circle tour

The Golden Circle tour does take you to one of the most famous areas in Iceland. This  is a full day guided tour and among the sites we visit are  the national park of Thingvellir, the Geysir geothermal area and the golden waterfall Gullfoss.

Departing from The Conference centre at 9:00 A drive for about 40 min. with the first stop at the historical Thingvellir National Park. Its the original site of the oldest parliament in the world, founded in the year 930. The most important events in Icelandic history have taken place at this scene ever since. Thingvellir was put on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2004.

From Thingvellir the tour will continue to Geysir area, which is a geothermal field where hot springs explode and pools of mud bubble. A field that harnesses energy and provides pollution free home heating. At Geysir the group will have a stop for lunch.

In the afternoon the tour will continue on to Gullfoss, the golden waterfall. Gullfoss is the queen of Iceland´s waterfalls. Its a beautiful double-folding fall that many believe to be the most scenic in Iceland. It thunders 105 feet over a fault into a gorge, which measures 1.5 mile in length and up to 230 feet in depth.

From Gullfoss we will head for Reykjavík with a stop at the little town of Hveragerði, the greenhouse town, where we grow vegetable all the year round as well as bananas !
